Undead Labs Announces a Zombie MMORPG in the Works!!
Posted December 24, 2009
Undead Labs
Former Blizzard employee and creator of the Guild Wars series announced that he has formed a development group called Undead Labs and they are currently in the process of making a ZMMORPG, or Zombie Massive Multiplayer Online Role Playing Game. We here at Living Dead Media certainly find this exciting news and will keep you informed on the progress. Here is a snippet about the company.
Undead Labs is a Seattle, Washington-based game development studio that’s on a mission to take online gaming in bold new directions. Our singular focus is to create the definitive massively multiplayer zombie game (MMOZ) for console gamers. Nothing screams funny quite like wading into a group of rotting zombies with a lawn chair and a box of sharpened #2 pencils, and nothing says fun quite like hunting zombies with your friends, whether they are online or on your couch.
Nexon America continues to add new and exciting content to its free-to-play multiplayer online first-person shooting thriller, Combat Arms, with the addition of the Cabin Fever map to its cooperative Fireteam game mode. Players will also get a chance to play as a new female Mercenary character, Max, and load up on fun, festive in-game items. All of this new content will be launched on Dec. 23 in time for last-minute Christmas shopping.
This new map launches the second level of Fireteam mode, which introduced co-op play to over three million registered soldiers earlier this year. After rescuing a hostage and defeating a violent terrorist organization in Desert Thunder, players will need to hold off a batch of infected soldiers in Cabin Fever.
Maxine joins Combat Arms and while her friends call her Max, her enemies only know her as a blur in the distance just before they lose the ability to speak, forever. Fast, smart and boasting a cheery personality totally at odds with her expertise in guerilla warfare, “mad” Max is a very dangerous opponent.
Players looking to spread holiday cheer might want to invest in a Christmas backpack or horn. If Santa Claus is your guy, check out the available Santa Beard and Beanie or show your support with a Red Nose like his favorite reindeer of all.
New guns, equipment and clan emblems are also available in the update. Cabin Fever requires players to fend off three levels of zombies while hiding out in an abandoned building located adjacent to the secret laboratory which created the awful infection. Cabin Fever matches up soldiers against the infected and introduces four infected with different strands of the virus - , the Armored, Assassin, Dynamite and Tanker. Players will need to avoid and destroy these nasty and dangerous monsters to overcome Cabin Fever.

Florida's Department of Transportation says Gainesville motorists need not fear a zombie attack.
Transportation officials reassured drivers Monday after hackers posted "ZOMBIE ATTACK!! EVACUATE," on an electronic sign during the morning commute.
Earlier this year, a manager at the University of Florida's e-Learning Web site posted an elaborate zombie attack preparedness plan. The plan was meant to encourage thinking about how to handle a campus closure.
Gina Busscher, of the Florida Department of Transportation, says Monday's message was a hoax by someone who hacked the sign via telephone or on site. No zombies have been seen on University Avenue, she said.
Left 4 Dead 2 DLC The Passing
Left 4 Dead 2 Game Add-on #1 Announced posted by Alden @ 03:24PM on December 14, 2009
Dubbed "The Passing," the first game add-on for L4D2 brings the original Left 4 Dead (L4D1) Survivors down south for a meeting with the L4D2 cast, while delivering new single-player, multiplayer and co-operative gameplay.
Targeted for release in early spring, "The Passing" takes place just after the Dead Center campaign of L4D2. Set in a small town in rural Georgia, players assume the role of the L4D2 Survivors as they meet with the L4D1 characters.
In addition to the new co-operative campaign and associated narrative, "The Passing" will include new arenas for Survival, Versus and Scavenge mode and introduce a new co-operative challenge mode of play. The Passing will also include a new "uncommon common" zombie class, melee weapon, and firearm.
"The Passing will become the most important campaign in the Left 4 Dead story, as all the Survivors are being called together in one campaign," said Doug Lombardi, VP of marketing at Valve. "It will also be a huge offering of new gameplay content, with something new for every game mode plus a new uncommon common and weaponry."

World of the Living Dead Beta Test!
Our friends at World of the Living Dead have been nice enough to give us an exclusive look into their new game. Let's see what the developers have to say about the game.
We’ve finally started beta testing World of the Living Dead. It’s taken us a bit longer than we hoped, but the game is coming close to our original vision and focuses on survival against a backdrop of the ever-present zombie threat.
Over 2000 people signed up for the beta test so we’re slowly inviting players in batches. We want to test the core gameplay and make sure that it works before opening up the beta.
We’ll post screenshots and other details over time, but if you’re interested in the game you can check out our new forum. The beta forum is closed unless you’ve received a beta key, but we’ll be happy to answer any questions you might have in the public forum.
Hope to see you all in the World of the Living Dead soon!

Movie News
Zombieland 2 Buzz>
Undead sequel already being discussed.
by Orlando Parfitt October 6, 2009 -
With the movie grabbing the number one spot (and $25m) at the U.S. box office at the weekend, it was inevitable that talk of a Zombieland sequel would begin.
Screenwriter Paul Wernick certainly thinks an undead re-tread would be a good idea, telling MTV (before the movie came out):
"We would love it, and everyone involved creatively wants to do another one."
"Woody [Harrelson] came up to us after the final cut of the last scene and gave us a hug and said, 'I've never wanted to do a sequel in the previous movies I've done until this one.'"
The writer -- who also penned a spec script for Venom with fellow Zombieland scribe Rhett Reese -- said they have plenty of ideas for a sequel.
"We've got a long brainstorming document that still to this day gets updated on a near-weekly basis with ideas. We've got tons of new ideas swimming in our head."
"We would love to do several sequels," Wernick went on. "We would love to also see it on television. It would make a wonderful TV series."
