COLIN is just an absolute gem, it shows Hollywood you don't need billion's of dollars and expensive screenwriters and CGI, all you need is passion, vision and a will to bring your idea to life. Thanks to Director/Writer Marc Price and leading star Alastair Kirton and everyone else involved as it gives us horror fans, budding Directors and screen writers some hope, and what they did was nothing but extraordinary and i applaude them.
If you haven't yet seen COLIN you should check this out when it hit's theaters later this year in the US. For now check out the trailer below:
COLIN will also be released on DVD and VOD later in the year.

COLIN is coming to a US theater near you! the £45 (roughly $75) British horror movie is coming to the US thanks to the Walking Shadows company, FANGORIA has stated. COLIN will be taking theatrical booking across major U.S. cities this fall.

Pontypool is a 2009 Candian horror flick based off of Tony Burgess' novel, "Pontypool Changes Everything". This great little gem of a film is directed by Bruce Mcdonald and stars Stephen McHattie, Lisa Houle, Georgina Reilly, and Hrant Alianak.
So this flick was really original. The zombies in this film become zombies from a virus that actually spreads through the speaking of the English language. Pretty different right? Yeah, applause to the filmakers for coming up with something new and not ripping off every other zombie flick out there. Of course, it should be duly noted that the zombies in this film arn't really zombies. But that's what I'm calling them anyway.
This is a dialog film. And I love dialog (sp?) films. You don't see a "zombie" until halfway through the flick, but Pontypool is still entertaining the whole way through, beginning to end.
I loved the character of Grant Mazzy (Stephen McHattie), he was really fun to watch throughout the course of this brilliant feature. The only complaint I have about this film is the lack of gore. There was some, yeah. But I'm a gore hound and I want MORE!!
Besides the lack of some awesome gore, Pontypool was excellent. I urge you to check it out. Worth a DVD buy I'd say. I give it a 8/10 and a letter grade of a B+

Young writer Guo wrote about a titular curse in his book, "The Deserted Village". It began 500 years ago in the Ming Dynasty, when one of the villagers died of terminal illness. The widow Yanzi vowed to stay with her husband forever but when the man suddenly returned to life. The horrified neighbours believed that he was a monster. They burned him to death and torched his mansion. The devastated Yanzi upheld her vow and threw herself into the fire.
Since then, the village was cursed and the mansion subsequent inhabitant dies mysteriously. Some say only couples who share true love can survive in that village. Those who are unfaithful will come to their demise. To the world, the book was pure fiction. Only Guo and his ex-girlfriend Zhi had lived through the horror to know its existence. When four college students decided to explore the village themselves, the trip led them to an ancient well in Yanzi's mansion, where the curse was unleashed once again.

When Guillermo Del Toro left directing duties on The Hobbit; I was certainly a little saddened by the news. However, word from Deadline about his next project makes me well...glad he dropped from that project. It's no secret that Del Toro has been trying to get an adaptation of HP Lovecraft's novella At The Mountains of Madness made for a number of years now; but he has been held up because of his insistence to stay true to the material (ie 1930s setting for starters) which didn't look like it'd draw much of a crowd at the box office. Now, Del Toro has help from the self-pronounced 'King of the World' James Cameron. Cameron is coming on to produce Madness and Cameron's involvement has apparently won Universal Studios over. Being that Cameron has the two most successful films of all time (inflation non-withstanding), no surprise why Universal seems willing to make it. Madness will also be shot in 3D, marking Del Toro's first foray into the format. I don't mind the 3D aspect, if used well for an artistic reason 3D can be effective and has a place. And at least it's being shot in 3D and not the shoddy digital post-production conversion. We'll bring you more news as things come out, but it looks like we're finally taking a trip down to Antarctica to see The Old Ones.

Nail-biting tension, indescribable terror and a primal fear of the unknown dominate the proceedings in Basement, the debut feature from writer-director Asham Kamboj and co-writer Ewen Glass and the latest addition to a refreshing new wave of British independent horror cinema.
Boasting a strong cast of home-grown talent that includes Danny Dyer (Dead Cert; Dead Man Running; Adulthood), Jimi Mistry (2012; RocknRolla), Emily Beecham (The Calling; 28 Weeks Later), Kierston Wareing (Fish Tank), Lois Winstone (Tamara Drewe; Beyond The Rave) andChristopher Ellison (The Bill), Basement takes the classic ‘fear of the dark’ horror movie set-up and gives it a unique and shocking twist.
Driving home from an anti-war protest, five demonstrators – Gary (Dyer), Sarah (Wareing), Saffron (Winstone), Derek (Mistry) and his girlfriend Pru (Beecham) – are forced to make a pit stop in the middle of the forest in order to answer nature’s call. Taking the opportunity to stretch their legs, the individuals wander off briefly with Gary, Sarah and Pru returning to the car to find Derek and Saffron missing. Their search for their companions leads them to a metal hatch leading down to a dank and dirty underground shelter. Believing Derek and Saffron must have gone down into it and somehow become lost or trapped, Gary convinces the others follow, despite Pru and Sarah’s reservations.
In the eerie darkness of the shelter, their worst fear becomes a reality when the hatch clanks shut above them, locked and leaving them no option but to walk deeper into the basement’s depths in search for another way out. Worse, in the shadows lurks an unseen terror that will soon have all five friends fighting for the lives unaware that one of their number knows much more about their circumstances than they are letting on.
Atmospheric, chilling and featuring solid performances all round, Basement marks director Asham Kamboj as an emerging talent well worth watching.
Basement (cert. 15) will be available on iTunes, Playstation and LoveFilm from 20th August 2010, and on DVD from 23rd August 2010
